Hello and welcome to my blog. I have an opinion on just about everything, and my blogs will reflect my current state of mind on a myriad of issues. As I continue to evolve this blog, it may become lop-sided on a few topics, as I have certain passions (not in any particular order): politics, dogs, food & wine, wildlife/environment, and the over-arching current events. When I give opinions, they’re primarily based on first-hand experience and knowledge, OR, I’ve carefully researched a subject (a.k.a. “did my homework”) and absorbed both sides of the aisle.
Born and raised in a middle-class family in Chicago. I have those Midwestern values, which people may consider either boring and colloquial, or “salt of the earth.” Political science major in college, MBA in grad school, but I strongly value common sense. I’ve been fortunate to work in both public and private sector, and my career has taken me across the globe. I was an expatriate in Moscow, Russia for 3 years, before working in Asia and the Middle East.
I’m hosting my sister blog on this site, Political-Woman. I give my opinion on issues and current events from a mostly pragmatic, moderate point of view, but can lean conservative, depending upon the subject. You’ll find me of the Republican persuasion. I served as a political appointee in the Bush I Administration, but no one should mistake me for a lock-step partisan. I think for myself, and I’ve voted for my fair share of Democrats. I was elected to the local town council, defeating an incumbent, and served for three years. I’ve also worked on state and national campaigns.
I welcome all comments. You can be passionate in your POV, but remember others are reading your words as well, so please be considerate. To contact me, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
